Then I got the pattern, the fabric and I stalled.
I went as far as choosing the colors I didn't want to use, and pulled them from the bundle.
Then life got busy. But I finally started in mid March. I chose my colors, and cut my fat quarters, and labeled them.
I started sewing, and got stuck. I finally figured out where I went wrong and got back on track and kept sewing. Until April 14th, and I knew this was just not going to happen before I left on my trip on the 18th. This is as far as I had gotten.
Oh I did have 2 rows which were actually put together, that I did not show. They were hanging on the back of a chair the day I left. Sunday April 15th I came up with an alternate plan and in a matter of just a couple of hours I had a top made! Monday I made a back and pinned it, and started quilting. Tuesday I made binding and stuffed it in my bag, and Wednesday it was in the bag traveling with me.
It was quilted in the Grand Canyon, and at the cousin's home in California. I squared it up and put the binding on it while sitting on the front porch enjoying the Dogwood trees in bloom across the road.
I finished and took it with me on the 200 mile detour to the cemetery I have been trying to get to for a week.
My backup plan? 5 colors, 3 pink, 2 purples, in a small table topper which ended up about 30 inches square.
I did simple straight line quilting following the weave of ribbons, and the binding was one of the gray ombre fabrics that I chose not to use.
Thanks Amy for organizing the hop, now hop on over to see the rest of the great projects for today and next 3 days.
