November Thankful Day 30

I made it every day for 30 days.  Some items I found something new every day, some items I didn't.  But what I do know is that I shared a lot of wonderful memories.  I had a tough time choosing what to be thankful for on my last day.  Not that I didn't have anything, but it was a toss up between being thankful for times of trial because they make you stronger, or memories.  I decided I would choose.....

 30.  November 30- I am thankful for memories.  As we age our mind tend to forget.  I mean come on how many of us have walked from one room into the other to do something and totally forgot what we went to do?   As I wrote each one of these posts, looking for pictures, they each one triggered a memory of a time, place, sometimes a scent, or sound.....some brought tears for my/our loss, but many brought smiles.

29.  November 29- I am thankful for nature

28. November 28- I am thankful for my sense of humor
Come on you have to admit that you have to have a sense of humor when one of the neighbors erects a pirate ship on their pond.  Complete with crows nest, sales and jolly roger.

November Thankful Day 29

I love being outside.  This November has been unseasonably warm.  Friday, November 24, 2017 we were at 52 degrees.  I worked outside, even though it was windy, and bit chill.

29.  November 29-  I am thankful for nature.  Being outside in the yard.  The birds, bugs, mountains, rivers, lakes, all refresh my soul.

Mt Shasta when we traveled a couple of years ago.

A Giant Redwood.
A geyser at Yellowstone

The frogs which insist on living in my swimming pool.
The Luna moth on the garage.

The ginormous sidewalk bug Finn and I saw one day.

All of it.  Jeff at first could not understand when I said I missed nature, until the end how much nature refreshed my soul.  Being in the mountains, and the trees.  Each of these wondrous creations is more than I can even begin to explain.  Maybe that is why we chose to get married at the falls in the middle of winter.

28. November 28-  My sense of humor.

The parking meters in front of the courthouse.  Mon-Fri 8 AM-5 PM Sundays and holidays excluded....now the last time I checked there was a day in there called Saturday....which we all look forward to each week.  So pay the meter on Saturday?  Or be a scofflaw and don't pay it?

Obviously my grandson's have inherited my sense of humor.

They insisted we had to stop so they could have their picture taken with the pink elephant that was wearing glasses.

27.  November 27-Baking
I can get the boys to eat zucchini with my chocolate chip zucchini bread.
26.  November 26-  I am thankful for Kindness-- whether you do a random act of kindness or someone extends you a kindness recognize it.  They seem to happen less and less.

This is a saved item.  Jeff found it in the corner of a barn all seized up and all the japanning missing.  He got it freed up, sanded it down, and painted it, put new decals on it, and made it gorgeous.

8.  November 8--I am thankful for music.

I will admit that this music speaks to a primitive part of my soul.  Could be that my family surname is Grant?

November Thankful Day 28

There is an old Yiddish saying "Man plans, God laughs".    The Bible mentions laughter in many different contexts.  Ecclesiastes 3:4  A Time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.  Not to be irreverent but I am sure ready for some dancing lately.
28.  November 28 -  I am thankful that I have a sense of humor and I am always on the lookout for life's absurdities, but I also laugh at myself--if you need a laugh read my post "Down in the Sumps".
I have been driving past this field the past several weeks and this makes me chuckle.

There is a party barge in the middle of a field.  This is looking good because just a few days before it was surrounded by tall weeds.

27.  November 27-  Baking

These are Jeff's family cookies.  I have the recipe, Sam and I are going to try our hand at it.  Jeff was very serious about his cookie making.

So much so that Samantha made him this apron.  We are going to miss our cookie Nazi.

19.  November 19-  I am thankful for flowers
These are the roses that Jeff bought me this year for Valentine's day.  One day I was speaking to my daughters how I would never again receive roses from him, and how sad it made me.  Our first time we met he gave me a dozen yellow roses.  My daughters got together and bought me a beautiful red rose and we planted it in the whiskey barrel on the porch.

18.  November 18-  I am thankful for blogging and the friends I have made

17.  November 17-  I am thankful for quilting.  OK maybe not quilting but everyone needs a patriotic chicken pincushion.  Right?

With words of encouragement.  Love deeply, forgive quickly, dream big, be happy.

While not a Kindle book I am currently reading this one as part of a Bible Study at church.  It is strange because I am in a class with a group of married people older than myself, and there are times I have a very difficult time because of my loss, which I haven't shared with them yet.
