Welcome to a new month and I like Thursdays which is hosted by LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color.
1. I like the month of November. A few years ago I tried to think of something that I was thankful for every day of the month. I like this practice and will attempt to do it again this year. So here are my thoughts for the 1st two days of the month of November
a. I am thankful for every morning I wake up--too many people don't get to see the light of another day. Thinks about it how would you act if you knew that today was your last day on Earth? Today is a gift. Tomorrow is not promised.
b. I am thankful for the fact my feet hit the floor every morning, whether I want to get out of bed or not.
2. I like my roses that I have planted. I planted twins a couple of years ago. I call them my vanity rose. The name is the Colette Rose, they are hard to come by and I had to back order them and wait for 2 growing seasons before they arrived. They are climbers, and Jeff created trellises for me from old gates he found in the garbage pit at work.
3. I like that obviously Lucy is not an old dog, and an old cat can learn new tricks. When Lucy first moved in she didn't want to have anything to do with anyone. She would sit with the great aunt Jannie, but no one else, and do not touch Lucy. Lucy has lived in this house for 13 months now. I think she has adjusted well.
Lucy crawled up to sit by Finn on her own.
4. I like that if I am busy I have someone willing to babysit Bobbin so she is not on her own. Bobbin will go next door to my daughter's home and play with her dog Harley.
Harley comes over for play dates with Bobbin, and they are besties. The big and little of it.
5. Squirrels-- I love squirrels, watching them makes me smile. We used to live in a neighborhood with many huge trees. There were some big squirrels, even a couple that would go up to some of the neighbors and take food from their hands. My present squirrel is not that friendly. But I thought it was so funny that it was just laying on this stump near the road, watching the traffic go by.
6. I like my "sticks with leaves". When I first moved in with Jeff it was late fall. The next spring there were so many wonderful discoveries in the yard. One discovery were 2 very big boxwood shrubs. I thought it would be nice to have a hedge between the house and the road. So I transplanted the two huge boxwoods and ordered 10 more from Ebay. What came were essentially "sticks with leaves", at least that is what Jeff called them. I received 10 plants which were barely 8 inches tall, some were forked, with a few leaves for $15. Five years later and my sticks with leaves look like this now.
They are about 2 feet tall, nice and round, they need shaping but it is too late in the year. Hey basically this year was a bust for gardening. You can see one of the big boxwoods down by the hydrant. The other one which you can barely see has not fared as well. A couple of years ago some neighbors thought that it was ok to go snowmobiling up and down the road, and through my yard, running over and breaking one of my large boxwood shrubs. I won't have that problem anymore in the future. My property is now marked with no trespassing signs.
7. I like my can do attitude. I have this plant hook that Jeff's mom wanted to get rid of, so of course Jeff brought it home to me. It laid on the berm for a year, I couldn't figure out why. Well I grabbed it and noticed that it had a part helps stabilize it, and it had been crushed. I got out my handy dandy hammer, and crow bar and went to work.
I fixed it, and got it into the ground. Next will be to put my bird feeder up for the winter.
8. I like gray, gloomy days because it gives me a good excuse to stay inside and sew. Yes I got some sewing done, no I am not sharing. I got to hold something back for another post sooner than later. :D
I challenge you to think of something you are thankful for every day this month.
yes you are so right. we should be thankful and enjoy each day God has given us for they truly are a gift. I am thankful for a quilty friend like YOU.

Good Morning,
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful likes, and today is absolutely a blessing for all of us. Your roses are beautiful - I have the front of my house filled with Knock Out roses and they are still going until we get that first frost. Finn and Lucy look so darn cute, and I love that photo of Bobbin with her friend. She is just so little. HAHA - sticks with leaves! I ordered some plants once and that is how they came - a stick that I had to soak and then plant. I thought okay rather dubiously but it did eventually grow. And we have neighbors that ride a dirt bike in the winter ON THE SIDEWALK. It knocks all the snow onto the freshly shoveled walkway, and it is VERY annoying. We solved the issue after asking them to stop didn't work by shoveling the walkway more narrow so the darn dirt bike wouldn't fit. Talk about using one's noggin with a can do attitude. That showed him! Have a great week and I look forward to seeing that sewing. ~smile~ Roseanne
I am thankful that my hubby is getting back to normal (ummm to whatever we call normal lol) and can eat pretty much as usual. So far so good.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am thankful that we have decided to not move, but stay here for now. Also, that I've come to realize more and more that that saying "the grass is always greener..." is true. Thankful for what we have...
Nice posting, Rheema hugs, Julierose
That Bobbin is so tiny, just can't get over her...our pups are both over 100 pounds so I have.no.idea!! I am thankful for so many things, couldn't possibly list enough out in a one breath - reply but know that you are among my blessings my friend, I so treasure our friendship :)
ReplyDeleteSticks with leaves. lol. I like that. And yes - gloomy days are great for sewing and baking!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great habit - really makes you think. Bobbin looks so cute with his friend. Little and Large for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm accepting your challenge of finding something to be thankful for each day this month! Thanks for that idea. I love the squirrels in our yard - they are endlessly entertaining to us, even when they're trying to get into the bird feeders!
ReplyDeleteI love your likes this week! I don't know if I posted the other day but I love your dog Bobbin and love Bobbin's name! Can-do attitudes rule! I hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteYour list of thankful things makes me smile. From personal experience you know how quickly someone can be gone and how important it is to treasure them. Your little Bobbin is the sweetest blessing for you. There's nothing more fun to snuggle with than a new puppy. Thanks for sharing your list and photos. I think I'll go make my own list of "thankfuls" because of you inspiring me. xo
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great challenge. Some days tend to get us down and finding something to be grateful for would give us all that boost we need.
