November Thankful Day 18

Wow I made it to day 18!

18.  November 18--I am thankful for blogging and the friends I have made through blogging.  I started blogging in January of 2013 trying to fill my time after losing my job in October of the year before.  My first post I was transitioning from a small blog on My Quilt Place to the "real world."  I looked back and Kaholly, Pat from Scrapatches, and some others stopped by to tell me hi!  I was blogging to journal  what I was working on, but also to share with my family that live on the west coast.  I will say it brings a tear to my eye, because I just realized that I began blogging just a couple of days after Jeff and I had celebrated our wedding in Oregon, on January 26th.   

Blogging, I spread my wings....I joined in with Madam Samm for a few blog hops.  Shared my projects, my sewing machines, my UFO's.  Laughed about life with Jeff, and on the farm (if you are really bored you should read my post about Conan the Plant destroyer).  It has been a wonderful time, and I will say there are times that I have laughed with my fellow bloggers, cheered them on, and cried and prayed with them too.  I have met a couple in person, and there are a few that we have a daily e-mail chats running the gambit on life, love and everything else.  I want to thank each and every one of you wonderful people because when life got really bad, you were there to lift me up.  Thanks for standing beside me, cheering me on, and listening when  have a bad day. 

I cannot even begin to express how grateful I was the day that I came home after dealing with the aunt at the hospital to find this on my doorstep.

My blog friends from all over the world contributed a block or more to this quilt.  It is a hug from each and everyone of you and it has been on my bed since the day it arrived.  You made the loss of Jeff bearable when there were times I wanted to just give up. 

17.  November 17-  I am thankful for quilting.  I finished a flimsy lately of a wall hanging.  Thanks Dawn for sharing.

Oh wait let me get a better picture without the quilting assistant.  Can you see how much energy that girl has?   That tail looks like it is vibrating.

16.  November 16-  I am thankful for Calder's Dairy and Egg nog. 

15.  November 15-  I am thankful for my options to worship.  I got to laughing because one church I visited gave me a "Swag Bag".  With a newsletter, a couple of refrigerator magnets, and a pen.

14.  November 14-  I am thankful for my Kindle and all the books that I have the opportunity to read, and the local library.  I can listen to my Kindle while sewing.  I have read over 140 books so far this year.  Today I am reading Shift Burn.  I love this series, probably because it is a mystery set in a small museum along the Columbia River Gorge.  While the museum building is real, but has been fictionalized it helps when I am feeling homesick.

13.  November 13.  I am thankful for Lucy the cat.



12.  November 12--I am thankful for Bobbin.  Wow she keeps me busy.  But when she is done.  She is out.

11.  November 11  I am thankful for my tenacious character to get things done.

10.  November 10--I am thankful for fall. A couple of years ago Jeff and I grew giant pumpkin.

 9.  November 9 I am thankful for saved items.  Maybe I should call them hoarded items.

8.  November 8--I am thankful for music.

7.  November 7-- I am thankful for the Boy Scout organization.


6.  November 6--I am thankful that I can shop online.

OK it always doesn't go well.  I ordered a long sleeve t-shirt.  It is supposed to say I don't care if anyone likes me, but chickens, I want chickens to like me.  This is what arrived.

It says-- I am Old, grumpy, I was born in April of 1967 and my level of sarcasm is dependent upon your level of stupidity. 

The company is sending out a new shirt, and I get to keep this one.  Now I will admit that I am sarcastic, I try not to be, but really I will say the shirt almost fits my personality perfectly.


5.  November 5--I am thankful that I could get new doors in my home to add more light.

4.  November 4.   I am thankful for coffee.

3.  November 3.  I am thankful for the roof over my head.  I love falling asleep to the rain on the standing seam steel roof which is over 150 years old.

2.  November 2.    I am thankful for the fact my feet hit the floor every morning, whether I want to get out of bed or not.

1.  November 1.  I am thankful for every morning I wake up--too many people don't get to see the light of another day.  Thinks about it how would you act if you knew that today was your last day on Earth?  Today is a gift.  Tomorrow is not promised.
