You know when you have a grateful heart it is so much easier to fill your life with things you love and think of things that make you happy, and be happy.
4. November 4. I am thankful for coffee. I love my coffee, I don't have to have Starbucks that is my special treat coffee, which I don't indulge in often. Also helps I live in a rural area and the closest Starbucks are about 10-15 miles away. I always have a pot on.
Jeff and I used to have this running joke. When I first met him, the coffee he made was akin to drinking dirty dishwater. I showed him the error of his ways. I like Folger's Black Silk, and I use at least 4 scoops for a pot of coffee. Anyway....Jeff had this cup which was ginormous compared to mine. It held like 3 1/2 cups of coffee, and if he had 2 of his cups of coffee in the morning, I was lucky to get 1/2 a cup full in my cup.
I used to call him the coffee 'ho' when he did that. But I will admit I was spoiled, even if he did drink all of the coffee sometimes. Jeff would get up and get ready for work before 6, he knew the alarm clock scared the bejeebers out of me so he woke before it went off. I knew it was time to climb out of bed about 15 minutes later because the smell of the coffee had wafted up the stairs to the bedroom. Jeff would hear me get out of bed, and by the time I reached the kitchen he had a cup poured waiting for me with cream and sugar just the way I liked it.
3. November 3. I am thankful for the roof over my head. I love falling
asleep to the rain on the standing seam steel roof which is over 150
years old.
2. November 2. I am thankful for the fact my feet hit the floor every morning, whether I want to get out of bed or not.
1. November 1. I am thankful for every morning I wake up--too many people don't
get to see the light of another day. Thinks about it how would you act
if you knew that today was your last day on Earth? Today is a gift.
Tomorrow is not promised.
What a nice post! I love coffee too! I prefer Maxwell House columbian although we drank Folgers for years before that. Have a wonderful day! Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me so happy for you to have had Jeff..and so sad that he is gone. I have a tremendous love of coffee. My cup is 2x so I don't have to fill it so often. I mix Maxwell House bold with French Vanilla. Terry makes coffee before we go to bed and I put the timer on for 5 AM so it's ready when I get up. I hate to wait for coffee. I drink a pot a day. I cannot bring myself to spend the $$ on Starbuck's my Corey's fiance' buys me a cup when she shops at the grocery store that has a Starbuck kiosk.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Being grateful does make you happy and you find it much more easy to realize all the things you love. It's a mindset.
xx, Carol
What a sweet story....loved it! Don't drink coffee but glad you enjoy yours.
ReplyDeleteI used to drink coffee but I cant drink it much now. I drink tea but like mine with nothing in it. no sugar, no milk. being thankful for another beautiful day
ReplyDeleteAwww, so sweet! What a wonderful gesture of love to have your coffee ready for you. xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post of thankfulness. Your Jeff was so sweet to have your coffee ready for you. I wasn't that lucky. It is true that focusing on thankfulness or others can get us "out" of ourselves. Enjoy this day also.

ReplyDeleteI love hearing the rain on the roof too. It doesn't fall often enough here, but it is always a thrill when it does.
ReplyDeleteGotta start my day with coffee too, but mine is decaf. Starbucks is a bit too strong for me, but give me a McDonald's coffee any day.
