I like having memories that I can look back on when I am having a really tough week.
I like frozen custard. A couple of years ago the day the custard stand opened, Jeff and I took the boys for frozen custard at our favorite place.
Yes it was snowing that day. Also yes that is a small.
Last year when the stand opened I went and had one in Jeff's memory. I liked chocolate vanilla swirl. Jeff liked his with coconut on it. I am looking forward to them opening again in April.
I like these plastic feed bags.
I actually have made a lined grocery bag out of one. I have several more that Jeff saved me. Actually I have a closet full of them upstairs. LOL
I like when I really miss Jeff I can look back and see all the time he brought me roses.
I like when I feel sad I have Bobbin to keep me company.
I like the spray starch the church ladies taught me to make.
Spray bottle with 2 cups of water.
Add one cup of vodka. I bought the really cheap stuff.
Add about 20 drops of essential oil. Shake it up and you have an awesome spray starch.
Now head on over to LeeAnna's and check out the other like for the first of March.
I am sorry your week has been hard my friend, it is difficult not to smile seeing the wee little pups face.
ReplyDeleteWHAT!!! Mix water and Vodka and get spray starch????? I want to do that! Thanks for posting about it. I remember when the frozen custard stand opened in Michigan City when I was a kid...back in the 50s. I like frozen custard, I do NOT like Dairy Queen, I love ice cream from the local dairy, I do NOT like ice cream bought at the grocery store in cardboard boxes. When I was young, we would walk to Peter's Dairy and buy a Nut Dip which was a large sunday of hand dipped ice cream with what ever tipping you wanted with real whipped cream topped off with a cherry. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. In some ways the '50s were better days.
ReplyDeleteHug your pup.
xx, Carol
Wow- I never heard of that spray starch recipe. Thanks. That ice cream cone is bigger than he is. So cute. Your puppy is full of love for you- you can see it in his face. mary in Az
ReplyDeleteWow I am always learning something new...vodka as spray starch is such a novel concept to me. Back in college and very new to alcohol of any kind, screwdrivers were the drink we all knew.
ReplyDeleteI always have the twist...chocolate and vanilla cone at Costco as my treat.
I like the way you recycle things-it's very clever. And Bobbin is a comfort I'm sure. My dogs want to be where ever I am...definition of a true companion.
Hi Colette,
ReplyDeleteHoly moly - that is a SMALL cone?!! Oh my goodness, that looks so darn delicious. And the little guy eating that big cone looks so cute and like he enjoyed it. Oh that little Bobbin - how can you possibly feel sad when you look at that concerned face? Spray starch made with water and vodka and essential oil?!! What?! I have never heard of that. {{Hugs}} I know it has been a tough week. ~smile~ Roseanne
you have made me hungry! And i just eat! Hugs
ReplyDeleteThat Bobbin is so adorable - he looks like such a good companion! I'm glad he comforts you, along those good memories of flowers and yummy custard. I've heard about the starch recipes but haven't tried it. I might need to!
ReplyDeleteWell, I never knew that about the spray starch! How interesting! Bobbin looks such a cutie - a real cuddle bunny to make you smile. I have never had frozen custard - sounds interesting. I do like ordinary custard so I would probably like it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the starch recipe, but have read about it. The vodka sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI love the look on Bobbin's face. Who me???? I'm innocent. ;-)
Bobbin is so cute. I'm glad he is there for you. Er - do you mix in starch in that recipe above?
ReplyDeleteThose cones look yummy. Bobbin is so cute and loveable. She will make you laugh many times I am sure.great memories to love
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely nothing wrong eating ice cream (or custard) in the snow. And wow! What does a large cone look like?!?! Never thought of making a grocery bag from a feed bag. Neat
ReplyDeleteBig hugs for your sadness this week. I had a little cry the other day about my brother Dan. It was his birthday and he will have been gone 20 years this year. He was very special and I do miss him alot. One of my few family members who came to visit me here in the UK - or at least in the first 10 years.
ReplyDeleteI have heard about cheap vodka being used in costume storage - like universities where they do drama. Apparently it kills mould and other things that ruin the sorts of items like shoes and hats that can't be washed. I think some use it every night of a run of a play on the costumes so they will be set for the next day. I think besides killing off germs, the reason for the choice is that it doesn't have a smell.
My Treadle On group has discussed the vodka spray starch many times. I've yet to try it.
