I Like Thursday #138

I don't know about you, but I feel like I am hurtling toward Christmas faster than I could ever imagine.  Not often do I get that anxious, but looking at the schedule and seeing 12/20 just freaked me out.  I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary at work.

I have been baking cookies almost every day for the kids.  Unfortunately the kids scoop them up as soon as they are done.  So far I have made peanut butter blossoms, Peanut Butter Temptations, Crown Jewel, and Cherry Delights.

I saw this lodge frying pan, and decided to add to my cookware.

The design is Rosie the Riveter and is made to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of women's right to vote.

I saw this cute shirt at work and had to snap a picture of it.

A friend and I have a joke going about squirrels and I saw this mug and thought of her.

I thought this gingham moose was cute on a gift bag.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I saw this meme and had to share it.  Made all my daughters giggle.

I struggled, but finally decided I should decorate.  I will share my Christmas Trees.

My books for the week were Fossil River by Jock Miller.  I think they would call this dystopian.  The US has been outbid by China for all the oil from OPEC.  The US is experiencing power outages and it is only a matter of days until the US completely shuts down.  On an excursion, there appears to be a huge oil reserve in a remote area in Alaska.  Unfortunately this remote valley surrounded by mountains and nearly impossible to get to has another surprise.

My 2nd book is Yellow Lies by Susan Slater.  This is the 2nd book in the Ben Pecos mystery series.  Ben is assigned as a psychologist at Indian Health Services in a Pueblo.  Ben is forced to live in a boarding house and the first night there the body of a dead trader is found.  Salvador Zuni a master fetish carver, and discovered a way to fabricate amber that looks real.  Is the death related to Sal's illegal manufacturing?

Now head over to LeeAnna's at Not Afraid of Color to check out the other I Like Thursday posts.

  2. I'm struggling with the Christmas spirit a bit - maybe decorating the tree will help. Yours are pretty, and I love them in that arrangement! The squirrel mug is hilarious! Cute panel quilt in your previous post, too.

  3. I think I would like to read that second book. I'll look for it! Like your pretty Christmas trees and I hope it cheers you to look at them. We keep things pretty simple here. Love your new skillet too! Holiday hugs!

  4. I got out the table top Christmas trees and some wall hangings, then stalled out. The Christmas spirit has not inspired me (nor have any Christmas elves made me do any quilting). Maybe if I bake some Christmas cookies it would help. Need to send a few cards, too.

  5. Hi Colette! Congrats on your one-year anniversary! Love the iron frying pan - what a great way to commemorate the 100th year of women voting. Cute things all throughout your store. You feel like baking cookies after working in the bakery?! Wow - you amaze me. Your trees look cute and festive. What's Bobbin sporting for the holidays? {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  8. Christmas always sneaks up on me. I think it’s because we get busy and focused, and all of a sudden, days and days have vanished....and 'poof'...it’s here! You have some great finds, there! Stay well and safe. Thanks for the book recommendations! I’m going to check out this Susan Slater. I love to read series.

  12. Love those Christmas trees especially pretty lit up. That is funny, plague apparel. I can’t believe you have a whole year there already...wow that time went fast. And you’re keeping busy with the baking at home too. I hope you get some time off now for the holidays.
