The Doldrums

After finally finishing the baby quilt, I am feeling that let down or doldrums for lack of a better way to describe it.  Do you ever feel that way after you finish a quilt?

I pulled out the ribbon star and worked a bit on it yesterday.

I made up the Saw Toothed Square for one of the blocks that I chose for the RSC.  The color for the month is brown.
I then was kind of at a standstill.  What to do?  I could pull out the Allietare and work on it.  But I also knew I had fabric stacked all over the place.  So maybe I should clean up my mess.  Maybe it would be easier to be motivated to work on stuff.

First I grabbed some strips which I had already cut for the fancy fox blocks.  I have enough parts cut to make several more foxes.

Since these are so easy to put together I decided to finish up making the ones for the month.
A batik fox, and use some of the lovely fabric I got from Julierose.
And my skulk of foxes.
I decided to then cut up some of my scraps, and while doing it cut parts for the twisted blossom which will be the next block I work on, and tumblers.

My little shoe type box seems to ever get really low.

I love cutting up my scraps, and even pulling some stash and using it.

  1. your ribbon star is going to be a beauty. and those foxes.........OH my are they adorable! LOVE them....
how big is your tumbler box? mine is overflowing so I need to get sewing so I can add more pieces to it. (or I need to get a bigger box LOL)
I sometimes too get a little disoriented when a project is finished and I need to start on another. so of course I start ten more!

  2. I have been in those "murky waters" for a while now --since finishing Steven's quilt. I riffled through my drawer of "started but stopped" projects and none appealed (duh, maybe that's why I stopped!!) so am just going with my strippy right now and taking some time to re-think what I want to working on--size, type, craft. I miss my beading, knitting and scrapbooking (altho' I am re-organized to scrap now).
Perhaps time for a bit of a breather?? Hugs, Julierose

  3. Your blocks look great! I LOVE your fox blocks. How fun! I have not had that feeling after finishing a quilt, but I did feel the same when I finished the Santa and the Mouse Ornament cross-stitch last year. I thought I would be so excited to finally be done. Instead, it was kind of sad to be done. I hope you have an amazing day!

  4. LOL, it's funny we both wrote about the same things! I traced a label for the next wedding quilt and will have that to stitch on while I am on vacation. I think the change will do me good. I find cleaning up helps me too. Then making a list. I do have my list for when I return. GO US!!!

  11. Love those foxes! I know what you mean about a letdown...sometimes I feel the same way, but the feeling goes away as soon as I decide on the next quilt!

  12. I love those foxes! I totally get that feeling of feeling letdown. It does help to clean up my sewing area to get back in the mood. I usually find something I forgot about under the messy piles. :O)

  15. I totally feel let down after a big finish. Floundering a bit, not wanting to jump right into something big. Thats when the little scraps come out and I piece them together. Soothing, mindless but still sewing. LeeAnna
